My Thoughts
I've been flying for a few years and I'm just now developing a much more in depth understanding of what the airplane is doing. I find this to be a thoroughly complete discussion of the ... well, the cover says it best: "An Explanation of the Art of Flying."

A word of caution: it was first published in 1944 and the language style is a bit dated. As a result, the reading requires a bit of concentration. I don't recommend the book for light reading by people not deeply interested in physics and/or aviation.

Highly recommended for pilots and physics/aviation enthusiasts. All others just buy me a beer and ask me how a plane flies -- you'll get the (slightly) condensed version in today's vernacular.
